Game of the Week: Men's soccer vs. Williams
By Nick Michlewicz, Sports Editor
The Jeffs host three-time defending NESCAC Champion Williams College on Saturday in a match which will decide the final seedings for Sunday's opening round of the NESCAC Tournament. Star sophomore Mike Wohl and the Jeffs will look to avenge a 5-2 regular season loss at the hands of the Ephs in 2003 by spoiling 25th-ranked Williams' hunt for a first round bye. Amherst, currently 5-3 in the NESCAC, will be battling for home-field advantage in the first round of the playoffs. The Jeffs come off of a two-game NESCAC losing streak, having fallen to Bates College and Wesleyan University this past week. Amherst will have to fight past a Williams backfield led by defender Dana Leary that has held NESCAC opponents to four goals all year, while the Jeffs will look to junior goalie Greg Lockwood to hold off a powerful Williams attack.
