Game of the Week: NCAA Cross Country Championships
The women's cross country team will compete in the NCAA Div. III Championships this weekend after winning its second straight bid with a fourth-place finish at Regionals on Saturday. Senior Carter Hamill, who finished fourth last year at Nationals, took fifth place in the region and will seek her fourth consecutive All-America nod on Saturday. Sophomore teammate Shauneen Garrahan finished sixth on Saturday, only two seconds behind Hamill. Last year the women finished 10th in the nation, and this year they should do even better. Amherst was ranked fifth in the nation before last weekend. While placing fourth in New England was disappointing, it is the most competitive region in the nation with Williams and Middlebury Colleges ranked first and second nationally. Though Amherst enters as the underdog, a national title is not out of reach.
