First-year Kostakis helped the Jeffs to a near upset of number-one ranked Bowdoin College on Friday with 14 points, 10 rebounds and three blocks, all team highs. The Jeffs just missed sending the game into overtime when a last second three-pointer rimmed out. The next day, Kostakis had a dominating double-double on Saturday, her seventh of the season, with 12 points and 14 rebounds as Amherst beat NESCAC rival Colby College, 70-60. She narrowly missed yet another double-double earlier in the week when she tallied nine points and 10 boards in a loss to Skidmore College.
• Libby Martin '08
In only a few months of college squash, Martin has shown that she's right at home playing near the top of the Jeffs' rotation, spending time in both the four and five spots for the 10th-ranked Jeffs. Martin was instrumental in helping Amherst rack up four more wins this week. Failing to lose a single game, she shut out opponents in each of her matches as the Jeffs beat Smith, Wellesley, Vassar and Colby Colleges to improve to 7-4 in the most grueling week of the season. On Sunday against Princeton University, Martin was the only member of the Jeff squad to win a game, securing her opener 10-8.
