The upset-minded Jeffs have another shot at a number-one ranked team in LeFrak Gymnasium this Friday against Bates College. Bates is coming off an upset win over then number-one Bowdoin College and comes to Amherst as the hottest team in the nation. The Jeffs have proven, however, that LeFrak is a very difficult place for visitors to play, nearly upsetting the Polar Bears themselves two weeks ago when a last-second try from first-year Shaina Pollack rimmed out. The Jeffs are led by stellar forward Matia Kostakis '08, who is averaging a double-double with 10.2 boards and 10.3 points a game. Amherst will also look to scorers Jenny Muller '07 and Stefanie Reiff '08, who are averaging 8.7 and 10.9 points in conferance competition, respectively. The Jeffs will look to contain Olivia Zurek, who leads the Bobcats averaging over 15 points and 10 boards a game.
