Game of the Week: Men's Basketball hosts NESCAC Final Four
The NESCAC men's basketball season will wrap up right here this weekend, as the top-seeded Jeffs take advantage of their hosting rights. Amherst takes on Trinity College on Friday in the Tournament semifinals. The Jeffs opened their NESCAC regular season with an 85-82 win over the Bantams. Foward Tyler Rhoten, who is the conference leader in scoring with 21.8 points per contest, leads Trinity. The Jeffs will counter with senior co-captain center Andrew Schiel, the frontrunner for NESCAC Player of the Year, as the squad looks to improve upon its school-record 16-game winning streak and 10-0 mark in conference play. Should Amherst advance to the finals, the men will play the winner of the Bates College and Tufts University semifinal. If the Jeffs win their third conference championship in five years, they will gain an automatic bid into the Div. III NCAA Tournament and will likely boast home-court advantage until the Final Four.
