En route to their third-place finish at the NESCAC Championships last weekend, the men's swimming and diving team was led in part by the record-breaking performances of junior Estacio. The record smashing began in the preliminaries of the 50-yard backstroke where Estacio set a pool record at 23.86, and continued in the 200-yard backstroke with Estacio's new pool and meet record of 1:50.33. Estacio also managed to nab second in the 100-yard backstroke. His stellar performances did not stop there, however, as Estacio combined with teammates in the 200-yard freestyle and the 400-yard medley relays to capture respective second- and third-place finishes.

Sophomore distance runner Garrahan overcame relentless competitors to take the victory in the mile run at the Open New England Championships last weekend. Garrahan was locked in a dog-fight with Quinnipiac University's Kaitlin Gwyther for most of the race, as the two jockeyed back and forth for the lead. Going into the final lap, Garrahan was behind, but she managed to out-kick Gwyther on the final turn to take home the victory. Garrahan not only broke a personal record with the 4:49.98 finish, but also set a new College record. Moreover, her win in the mile automatically qualifies her for the NCAA National Championships in two weeks.
