Game of the Week: Men's Lacrosse hosts Trinity College
The 18th-ranked men's lacrosse team will start its regular-season NESCAC schedule Saturday against Trinity College. The Jeffs will look to continue their winning ways from last season, when they earned the fourth seed in the conference tournament and advanced to the semifinals before falling to perennial powerhouse Middlebury College. The Jeffs managed to notch a 6-3 record in the NESCAC last season, but their losses were extremely close-opponents out-scored Amherst by only four goals in the three games combined. The Jeffs return 10 of their top 11 scorers, including sophomore Derek Cherney, the team's leading scorer from last year and the NESCAC Rookie of the Year. The Jeffs will also boast one of the best defensive units in the conference, anchored by Preseason All-America defenseman Greg Donohue. In order to win, the Jeffs will have to stop Chad Burdette, Trinity's leading scorer from last season.
