Game of the Week: Women's Lacrosse at Middlebury College
This Saturday's match will feature the two most dominant programs in all of Div. III women's lacrosse. Amherst came into its 2005 campaign looking for its fifth-consecutive trip to the NCAA Final Four and its second national championship in three years. The Panthers will be their most stringent competition, having won five of the last eight NCAA championships. Despite all of the Jeffs' success, they have never managed to pry a NESCAC championship away from the Panthers, who have won each of the first four. With Amherst currently ranked third and Middlebury second in the nation, both teams will likely come into the match undefeated in the conference. Amherst has already beaten two top-10 teams, Hamilton and Colby Colleges, earlier this year, but will need outstanding performances from seniors attacker Ashley Harmeling and goalkeeper Liv D'Ambrosio to oust their tenacious Panther foes.
