the sky was blue, the fans were out, the Jeffs were on the ball.
One performance stood above the rest and that was Taylor Downs:
two games, two goals, two wins plus two Player of the Week crowns.
The sophomore led men's soccer to two wins in as many days,
he doubled last year's scoring output; this kid deserves a raise!
Plaudits then came streaming in, first NESCAC Player of the Week,
ECAC followed next and Downs was on a streak.
It's a long season ahead, of course, and Bub's won't overboast,
but really if the Jeffs play like this to a championship they'll coast.
On Saturday Amherst travels to Maine for a showdown with Bates,
after a late-season loss last year, the Jeffs circled this date.
A third win would be nice for Bub's, so Downs and mates take note,
Score some goals, win some games and on you Bub's will dote.
