Kouvaris helped blast the Firedogs to victories over Keene State and Bowdoin Colleges and kept the team in a close five-game match with Colby College. In a 3-0 walloping of Keene St., Kouvaris recorded nine kills in helping the 'Dogs cruise to an easy victory. Kouvaris was back in action again against Bowdoin, leading the team with nine kills and two blocks as the Firedogs stifled the Polar Bears 3-0. Amherst faced its toughest opponent so far this season in Colby, and once again Kouvaris was up to the challenge, leading the team with 20 kills, but it wasn't quite enough, as the White Mules prevailed 3-2.

The field hockey team stretched its winning streak to three with a victory over host Bates College on Saturday. After jumping out to a 2-0 lead, the Jeffs looked to their defense to preserve the win, and rookie defender Catherine Calvert stepped up to the task. Calvert recorded two defensive saves as the Bobcats fired 10 shots in the second half. In addition to earning recognition in the record book, the center back had many excellent plays throughout the game, shutting down Bobcat forwards before they could get a shot off. The Amherst defense has only allowed one goal against NESCAC opponents this season.
