Game of the Week: Football at Williams College
By Louise Stevenson, Sports Editor
Saturday's "Biggest Little Game in America" marks the 120th match up between Amherst and Williams Colleges since the first game in 1884. Although Amherst has not won at Weston Field since 1985, the Jeffs enter Saturday's game tied for fourth in conference standings with the Ephs, both sporting 5-2 records. Amherst has defeated Williams in two of the last three games, including last year's 13-10 Homecoming victory. The Jeffs excel at both offense and defense-the Amherst offense currently leads the NESCAC with 405.6 yards per game and continually improves with 184.3 passing yards per game. Amherst also enters Saturday's game with the second best rushing attack in the conference with 221.3 yards per game. The Jeff defense leads the NESCAC and ranks among the best in the nation with only 107.0 passing yards allowed per game and a 76.1 pass defense efficiency. Amherst has a great chance at beating Williams at their field for the first time in 20 years.
