GAME OF THE WEEK: Men's Basketball vs. Bates College
By Jesse Corradi, Sports Editor
After thrashing Connecticut College 74-48 in the first round of the NESCAC Tournament, the Jeffs are poised for another NESCAC crown. They will play host to a Bates College team that made the journey to LeFrak Gymnasium nearly two weeks ago for a game that was utterly dominated by the Jeffs. Leading Amherst was forward Dan Wheeler '07 who scored 21 points on 8-10 shooting. The Jeff defense looked sharp in Friday's affair versus the then third-ranked Bobcats. Senior co-captains John Casnocha and John Bedford forced numerous turnovers while junior Tim McLaughlin swatted five shots and ripped away two steals. Look for Amherst to bring the same kind of defensive tenacity in this weekend's game as well as a controlled yet exciting offensive game plan. In front of what should be a full-capacity crowd, the Jeffs will come out firing, as they are aiming to play for the NESCAC Championship the next day.
