The women's track and field team came away with a third-place showing at Saturday's NCAA Women's Div. III New England Regional Championships, thanks to first-year standout Nicole Anderson. She bested a field of 26 competitors in the 5,000 meter-run. After the 5,000, in which Anderson led classmate Elise Tropiano to a 1-3 Amherst finish, the Jeffs were in first place. Though the Jeffs eventually dropped to third, Anderson's run was key in leading the small Jeff contingent over many of their much larger foes. In the upcoming Open New England championsips, Anderson is poised to lead the Lord Jeffs to another top-five performance.

The men's squash team placed second in the Hoehn Division and 10th overall at the College Squash Association Team Championship this past weekend. Nick Haslett had three crucial wins against Bowdoin College and Brown and Cornell Universities in the number-eight spot. His win was particularly decisive in the upset against Brown on Saturday, when Amherst edged the Bears 5-4. Haslett dropped his first match 1-9, but came back, winning the next three 9-6, 9-3, and 10-8. On Sunday, Haslett was one of two Jeffs to win against Cornell, winning three matches in a row.
