The Jeffs are set to make their second ever NCAA Final Four appearance this Friday in Salem, Va., where they will face Wittenburg University for a chance to play in the Div. III National Championship game. Amherst ranks among the top teams in the nation in scoring average (85.2 ppg) and scoring margin (+20.7) and will rely­-as they have all season-on senior Co-captains John Bedford and John Casnocha as well as junior Dan Wheeler and sophomore Andrew Olson. "The Shot" catapulted Amherst past Tufts University and sparked momentum as they head into the Final Four. However, Wittenburg's version of the twin towers features 6'8'' forward and a 6'9'' center that should challenge the Jeffs, especially because height is one of the only Amherst weaknesses. But this year's squad has overcome many obstacles already on its road to Salem.
