With Honors: Miya Warner '06 and Matt Pietroforte '09
By Jesse Corradi, Sports Editor
• Miya Warner '06

Miya Warner, who is widely recognized as the NESCAC's version of Jennie Finch, did not waver in her two most recent outings. She dominated Middlebury College batters during the first of two contests versus the Panthers, fanning seven and pitching a complete game, five-hitter. She also came on in relief during the second game, pitching 1.1 scoreless innings en route to a Jeff win and NESCAC Player of the Week honors. Warner has ruled the mound for the Jeffs, leading the NESCAC in strikeouts (95) and ranking third in ERA (1.74) as Co-Captain.

• Matt Pietroforte '09

In the one of the most promising performances of the season, the Jeff's gave perennial NESCAC lacrosse powerhouse Middlebury College a scare during Saturday's contest. A huge reason why Amherst challenged the defending champs was due to the outstanding effort of first-year goaltender Matt Pietroforte. While tallying 19 saves in Saturday's game, Pietroforte demonstrated his ability to be a leader on the defensive side. The Jeffs will certainly depend more on the first-year goalie as a leader as they gain momentum and look to go deep into the NESCAC post-season.
