First-year outfielder Alexa Princi came through with a clutch performance during Saturday's contest against visiting Brandeis University. The Jeffs emerged victorious, taking the game 3-2 and demonstrating true grit and guts (as if they were climbing the Agro Crag). Princi drove home the winning run in the top of the eighth inning to seal the Amherst triumph, adding her second RBI of the day. She went 3-4, upping her season batting average to .381, as well as playing solid defense in the outfield. With three more seasons remaining, look for this first-year to continue her assault on Jeff opponents.
• Alicia Menezes '08
Sophomore Alicia Menezes has roared back this spring after fully rehabilitating a torn ACL. Over the past week, she captured both singles matches as well as her doubles matches in dominating fashion. In her most recent victory playing number two for Amherst, she blazed through her competition 6-2, 6-2 to help the Jeff squad in their rout of 12th-ranked Wellesley College. She then teamed up with senior tri-captain Kristen Raverta to finish off their opponents, 8-1. Menezes will certainly be counted on in the coming weeks as the team prepares for the NCAAs in May.
