Junior outside hitter Jaclyn DeMais led the Amherst volleyball team to its first NESCAC Tournament title since 2000 on Sunday. The team, which entered the tournament ranked third, upset second seed Wesleyan University and top-seed Williams College along the way. These wins, coupled with Amherst's first-round defeat of Trinity College, were losses to three teams that had beaten Amherst during the regular season. DeMais was rewarded for her strong play when she was named the NESCAC Player of the Week on Monday, after averaging18 kills per match in the tournament.
• Amy Armstrong '07
Senior forward Amy Armstrong has led the women's soccer team all season. After starting 12 of the team's 15 games, she leads the squad in overall points, shots-on-goal and game-winners. On Saturday, Armstrong was instrumental in helping the Jeffs beat Bates College 3-0, scoring two of the team's goals and assisting on the third. Sunday, despite the disappointing 1-0 loss to Middlebury College in the NESCAC final, Armstrong played another great game, nearly finding the net 17 minutes into the second-half for one of the Jeffs' scoring chances of the contest.
