GAME OF THE WEEK: Women's Cross Country Championships
By Brittany Berckes, Sports Editor
Coming off a successful weekend, the women's cross country team prepares to travel to Wilmington, Ohio, where they hope to continue to prosper in this weekend's NCAA Tournament. At the NCAA Regional Championships in Springfield, Mass., the women's team placed second overall. More than 300 women from 48 Div. III schools competed in the 6,000-meter race, and co-captains Heather Wilson and Shauneen Garraheen finished fifth and eighth. respectively. The five other Amherst runners finished in the top 40, solidifying the Jeffs at second place and five points behind Middlebury College. With such an impressive showing at the meet, it seems only natural that the Jeffs will continue with their success this weekend. The team strives to improve on their seventh-place finish from last year, and bring home the team's first ever National Championship.
