• Joel Covelli '09

A forward on the men's hockey team, sophomore Joel Covelli currently leads the NESCAC with 22 assists and is tied for the lead in points with a total of 28 on the season. Covelli was named NESCAC Player of the Week after leading the Jeffs to victories over Connecticut College and Tufts University last week. He is the first player of the season to earn this honor for the Jeffs. Under Covelli's leadership Amherst has matched Colby College, Covelli's former team, as the top scoring offense in the NESCAC with an average of 4.24 points per game. Keep an eye out for Covelli as the season progresses.

•Krystyn Elek '10

Goalie Krystyn Elek has made a remarkable impact thus far in her rookie season. Having started 15 of the team's 22 games, she boasts a 1.61 GAA and save percentage of .934. Elek was named NESCAC Player of the Week for the week of Jan. 8 after leading the Jeffs to back-to-back shutouts against Hamilton College and Trinity College. Prior to the Jeffs' 5-1 victory over Wisconsin-River Falls, Elek had gone 15 consecutive periods without allowing a goal. This weekend, Elek and the Jeffs hope to begin another winning streak after having theirs halted at 11 games with a 4-1 loss to Utica College on Sunday.
