On the surface, the Jeffs' 25-point victory over Wesleyan University on Saturday hardly seemed unique. The team shot right around its season's average of 52.3 percent, and the margin of victory was almost exactly equal to the season's average of 24.4. It seemed to be business as usual. Dan Wheeler, however, was determmined to make the day anythng but normal, and he certainly succeeded. Exploding for 20 points in the second half for a game total of 28, Wheeler brought his career sum to an even 1,000. On the season, Wheeler leads the Jeffs in many of the major offensive categories, including field goals and free throws made.
• Brittany Sasser '08
Junior Brittany Sasser, who currently holds a national record, three individual NESCAC records and five individual school records, led the Jeffs to a 130.5-105.5 victory over Springfield College on Saturday. Sasser snatched two first-place finishes in the meet: one in the 200-yard IM and the other in the 200-yard backstroke. She led off the Jeffs' 400-yard freestyle relay. Currently posting Amherst's top times in the IM and the backstroke, Sasser has had a very successful season so far. As the NESCAC Champioinships approach, keep an eye on Sasser who will be looking to post even more record times.
