• Maria Millard '07

Track and field tri-captain Maria Millard '07 has had a very impressive winter thus far. At the Tufts Invitational, Millard secured two individual wins in the 55-meter hurdles and the 500-meter run, where she almost broke a 14-year school record. Last weekend at the Boston University Valentine Classic, Millard and her teammates, Carly Levenson '09, Caitlin McDermott-Murphy '10 and Shauneen Garrahan '07, posted the fastest time in Div. III to date and earned an NCAA-qualifying mark in the women's distance medley relay. Without a doubt, Millard will be a very strong contender in her premier event-the pentathlon-this weekend at the New England Championships.

• Drew Blacker '09

The men's squash team placed second in the Little Three Tournament and hours later took on Bates College on Sunday morning. The team depended heavily on Drew Blacker '09, who had an impressive weekend. After losing a close five-set match against a tough Williams College opponent, he came back to defeat his Wesleyan University opponent. Against the Bobcats' number two player Blacker dropped the first game, but won the set in a hard-fought battle over five games. The final score was 7-9, 9-4, 9-5, 3-9, 9-4. This was an exciting way to end the regular season for this young talent who led the Jeffs to a well-earned team victory. Keep an eye out for Blacker in the CSA Tournament, as he is sure lead the Jeffs to even greater success.
