GAME OF THE WEEK: Baseball vs. Wesleyan University
By Sarah Gelles, Sports Editor
After their Spring Break trip to Florida, the Jeffs hope things have finally clicked. This week marks the beginning of Amherst's conference slate and playing well would allow them to claim a high spot in the standings. Wesleyan's recent struggles should help the Jeffs get on track. Like most of the Jeffs' opponents thus far, the Cardinals have had more on-field experience than the Jeffs. With 13 games under their belts, Wesleyan enters this week with a 6-7 record. Like the Jeffs, the Cardinals began their season with three straight losses. After sweeping a doubleheader from Emmanuel College, things seemed to be on the way up, evidenced by three straight victories last week. Saturday's game against Chapman University, however, saw a return to the Cardinals' early-season play, culminating in an embarrassing 19-0 loss. Last season, the Cardinals finished second to last in the NESCAC West division with an overall record of 13-19-1.
