GAME OF THE WEEK: Track and Field at Little Three Championships
Coming off a strong showing at UMass this past weekend, the Jeffs are prepared for the Little Three championship meet. Against seven Div. I schools, the Amherst men and women proved that a lack of scholarships does not necessarily go hand-in-hand with a lack of talent. On the contrary, the Jeffs held their own, as the women took three first-place finishes to finish fifth, while the men took home the eighth spot. Senior Shauneen Garrahan ran the second fastest time in Div. III history in the 3,000-meter steeplechase to lead the Jeffs, and junior Maria Millard set a school record in the 400-meter hurdles. This weekend, Amherst will travel to Williams College hoping to finally take the title from the Ephs. Though a laudable goal, the competition will likely be tough this season, as the Williams women took home the Div. III Indoor Track National Championship this winter.
