Junior Laura Stein has proved to be an invaluable part of the women's tennis team this season. In the crucial Williams match, Stein sealed the victory for Amherst in three long, intense sets. With strong singles play and an impressive 9-4 doubles record with Jennifer Murphy '08, Stein will look to help the Jeffs earn another NESCAC title this weekend. Many times Stein has been able to rise above pressure-filled situations, which will be a necessity for the tournaments to come. She attributes all her success to Dora del Tenis.
• Annalise Rodli '07
Co-captain Annalise Rodli's hits came in the right situations this week, and the Jeffs were able to finally return to the .500 plateau. The women's 4-3 week ended on an upswing: On Monday, the team swept a doubleheader from NESCAC rival Bates College. Rodli was strong offensively all week, but her best performances, not coincidentally, came in the Jeffs' sweep of Bates. Rodli went 5-7 over the two games, with two runs scored and two RBIs. On the season, she is hitting a robust .385, second on the team to rookie phenom Jackie Tyler. Rodli is also tied for second on the team in runs scored and hits.
