Harper led the way yet again for the Jeffs. Having played at Taconic Golf Club many times, Harper certainly has learned the ins-and-outs of one of the more challenging courses in the Northeast. Her knowledge helped the younger Jeffs as well, as they prepared for their rounds. It is fair to say that both the men's and women's teams have a special place in their hearts for Taconic Golf Club, as Williams offers its course as a site of competition many times throughout the year.
Harper, along with first-years Kinne Schwartz and Jordan Chafetz, played tremendous golf. The senior captain placed second overall in a fiercely competitive field. She fired a two-day total of 158, which was only one stroke off of the individual champion's total. Schwartz had a great weekend as well, playing solid golf throughout her two rounds. Her hard work around the course led to a total two-day stroke count of 165, which was good for a sole possession of eighth place.
Harper and Schwartz were followed closely by Chafetz, who fired an impressive score of 169 to tie for 10th place individually. Chafetz's 10th place finish marked the first time she broke into the top-10 in her collegiate career. In doing so, Chafetz bested many in a field that included a large number of notable Div. III women's golf powerhouses. It was an incredible achievement. Sophomore Amanda Otieno rounded out the scoring for the Jeffs, firing scores of 106 and 112 for a total of 218. The women finished 5th on the weekend.
Next up for the Jeffs is their final tournament of the year: a one day tournament to be hosted, for the second week in a row, by Williams College and Taconic Golf Club. The Williams Quad Challenge will take place on Saturday, May 5, with the Amherst men's team participating in the action as well.
