Southpaw Ryan Platzbecker '09 was honored as NESCAC Pitcher of the Week for his outstanding performance in two non-conference games. Pitching two full games last week, Platzbecker pulled through for the Jeffs, earning wins against Springfield and Saint Michael's Colleges. He came away with an ERA of 0.64 on the week. Platzbecker, 4-0, leads the Jeffs in wins. He has allowed only 10 earned runs in his 10 appearances this season. Platzbecker will likely play an important role this weekend, as the Jeffs vie for a place in the NESCAC Tournament with their series against Hamilton College.

Elise Tropiano '07

As if sophomore Elise Tropiano has not had a very successful year already, she added even more achievements this weekend at the NESCAC Championships. In the 3,000-meter steeplechase, Tropiano took the lead from the beginning and was only out-kicked in the last 300 meters. Even though she did not win the event, she still managed to run to an NCAA Automatic mark. At the Penn Relays on Thursday, Tropiano also made her mark in the 5000-meter run. In the Olympic Development section she posted a strong NCAA provisional-qualifying time.
