Elise Tropiano '09 earned recognition as NESCAC Performer of the Week after leading the Jeffs to victory at the Williams College Purrple Valley Classic on Saturday.
She has performed strongly for Amherst in the past three meets, taking fourth at the Amherst Invitational, third at the UMass-Dartmouth Invitational and second this weekend.
Tropiano posted a time of 22:04 in the 6,000-meter race, helping Amherst to edge out Plattsburgh State University by a mere two points for the victory.
The Jeffs will once again look for a successful race from Tropiano in the Open New England Championships in Boston next weekend.
• Kathleen Boucher '08
After a four-year drought, Amherst has finally claimed the title of NESCAC Field Hockey Player of the Week again-thanks to goalkeeper Kathleen Boucher '08. The tri-captain racked up a week's total of 20 saves against Springfield College and Tufts University. On Wednesday against 16th-ranked Springfield, Boucher turned away 13 shots even though the Jeffs lost in overtime 1-0. She came back tough Saturday against Tufts, making seven saves. Her efforts were a part of an outstanding team defensive performance in which they denied Tufts on 22 penalty corners and held on for a crucial win.
