Senior tri-captain Heather Nowak has been a leading force as a midfielder this fall. She was an important presence on the field last year as well, tallying three goals and five assists.
Nowak scored the game-winning goal against Connecticut College last week in the Jeffs' solid 4-0 win. She has also been influential in creating scoring opportunities for the Jeffs.
On Homecoming Weekend, Nowak took a series of corner kicks that doubled as chances to score against Wesleyan University. She also accounted for the equalizing goal for Amherst off a rebound, ending the match in a 2-2 draw.
Nowak has chalked up two goals and one assist so far this season.

Will Yochum '11 is making quite the impression on the men's cross country team. He was honored as NESCAC Performer of the Week for his second-place finish in the Little Three Championships. Yochum was one of just two runners to complete the 8,000-meter race in less than 26 minutes (25:58.2).
At the Open New England Championships, which included schools from all three divisions, Yochum managed to stand out as the best Div. III first-year to finish.
If he keeps up his spectacular performance this weekend, Yochum may be in the running for NESCAC Rookie of the Year.
