Game of the Week: Women's Volleyball vs. Bowdoin College
The women of the Amherst volleyball team have had an incredible season thus far; they are 25-3 overall and 9-1 in the NESCAC. This past Saturday, the Firedogs defeated Bates College in three games, keeping their top spot in the conference and earning the honor of hosting the NESCAC Tournament.
This is the first year that Amherst will be the number one seed in the tournament; in past years, they have been seeded no better than third. Leading the 'Dogs will be outside hitter Jaclyn DeMais '08, who has racked up 459 kills this season to lead five Amherst players with more than 100; setter Sara Heller, with a total of 1018 assists; Rachel Yorke '11 with 499 digs; and Jackie Berkley '11 with 27 season blocks.
The Bowdoin Polar Bears are seeded eighth in the conference with an overall record of 17-14 to accompany their 3-7 conference mark. The Firedogs defeated them 3-2 in early October, in one of Amherst's closest matches of the season.
