The Amherst Student Player of Week: Heather Wilson '08
By Lauren Benson, Senior Writer

The women's cross country team is good, that is a fact.

With high-class runners, the Amherst team is stacked.

This season it appears the Jeffs cannot be halted;

To the top of the NCAA poll Amherst has vaulted.

In every race a swarm of purple dominates the front of the pack,

And senior Heather Wilson often leads the Amherst attack.

This week was no exception, Wilson started the race on fire,

The pouring rain could not stall her, and her legs did not tire.

Wilson powered through the puddles, leaving the NESCAC in her wake;

Sixteen seconds ahead of the next opponent, first place she did take.

Wilson's run spearheaded a massive Lord Jeff charge;

Amherst won the meet-the margin of victory was large.

At this point in the season, the Jeffs are right on course;

Three meets remain for the formidable Amherst force.
