All Academic Honors
By Eric Schulman, Sports Editor
With 47 All-Academic Selections, Amherst led the NESCAC this fall season. This number comes out of 331 total recipients in the entire conference. To qualify, a student-athlete must earn a varsity letter and be a junior or senior with a grade point average of at least 3.35. Amherst’s total marks a small improvement from the 46 honorees on the 2006 fall All-Academic Team, and includes 18 individuals repeating their success. Every sports team had at least one member receive recognition, led by women’s cross country with nine and football with eight. Impressively, all seven eligible volleyball players received honors as well. Of the 47, 11 also received All-Conference honors in their respective sports.
