Brittany Sasser ’08 once again proved her star power in swimming, recently earning double honors. CollegeSwimming.com named her the Div. III National Collegiate Swimmer of the Week for Dec. 31, 2007. Winning the 100-yard butterfly and the 100-yard backstroke, Sasser led Amherst to a victory over Hamilton College and protected the Jeffs’ undefeated record.
The senior also earned NESCAC Performer of the Week honors for the win against Williams this past Saturday. She established three new personal records in the 100-yard and 200-yard backstrokes and the individual medley. She remains invaluable to the Jeffs’ success.
~Steven Wheeler ’10—Men’s Basketball
Sophomore Steven Wheeler started off the new year by setting a new personal record. Following the tradition of leading scorer Dan Wheeler ’07, he tallied 16 points and helped Amherst outplay Southern Vermont College last Tuesday.
Wheeler leads the Jeffs in the number of three-point field goals made and sits third for overall three-point percentage. This past Saturday, he also improved upon his career record, scoring 19 points in the victory over the Jeffs’ archrival Williams College.
Playing as a guard, Wheeler’s performance is consistently improving and adding depth to the Jeffs’ line-up.
