Game of the Week: Women’s Swimming and Diving vs. Springfield
As the Jeffs head into their final meet before the NESCAC Championships, they look to protect their undefeated record. Senior captain Brittany Sasser’s stellar performance in the pool has led the Amherst women through an incredible season so far. Sasser has earned NESCAC Performer of the Week and the National Collegiate Swimmer of the Week honors in mid-January.
Kendra Stern ’11, a freestyle specialist, is a first-year standout. This past week, Stern received two honors for her performance, and she has broken team records in the 50- and 100-yard freestyles in the meet against Williams College. Sophomore Meaghan Stern has also excelled in the freestyle and holds team records in the 200- and 500-yard events from last season.
At their present momentum, the talented team could very well leave Springfield College trailing behind a stream of bubbles and splashing water. Saturday’s meet will provide a last chance for some breakout swims before the finals.
