In the biggest game of the Jeffs’ season thus far, senior tri-captain Stefanie Reiff was on top of her game. In front of roughly 250 fans at Lefrak Gymnasium, the Amherst forward scored 24 points in 27 minutes, leading the top-seeded Jeffs to a 30-point trouncing of eighth-seeded Colby College.
On the season, Reiff leads the Jeffs in points, averaging 12.5 per game, and is second in steals, with 32 overall. She has also become a reliable ball-handler for Amherst; though her assist total is half what is was last season, her turnovers are down by an even greater margin.
Joel Covelli ’09—Men’s Ice Hockey
Watching junior Joel Covelli play, there would be no reason to believe he hadn’t been a Lord Jeff his entire career. In his second season with Amherst, after transferring from Colby College, the forward leads the team in points with 30 on the season.
This season is hardly an anomaly; in his 49 games as a Jeff, Covelli has racked up 65 total points on the strength of 22 goals and 43 assists. In recent games, Covelli has been as strong as ever. Against Williams College on Saturday, the junior accounted for three points—one goal and two assists—in leading the Jeffs to a 6-2 triumph.
