GAME OF THE WEEK: Women’s Basketball vs. DePauw University
By Jasmine Yang, Sports Editor
For the first time in the history of the women’s basketball program, the Jeffs will play in the Sweet 16 of the NCAA Div. III Tournament. In order to get there, Amherst had to survive a 61-60 victory over Bowdoin College. To advance even further, the team will have to overcome an even bigger obstacle: the defending champion DePauw University Tigers.

Amherst’s senior tri-captains led the Jeffs throughout the Bowdoin game, as they have all season. Guard Shaina Pollack ’08 tallied 23 points total, establishing a new career-high. Forward Stefanie Reiff ’08 also contributed 10 points to the game, while Anne-Claire Roesch ’08 netted seven.

Forward Jenna Fernandez leads the Tigers in scoring, averaging 14.6 points per game, while guard Cassie Pruzin ’09 pulls down 6.4 rebounds per game. DePauw University is currently ranked sixth—eight spots higher than Amherst’s 14th—in the Div. III national rankings, making this game one of Amherst’s toughest of the season.
