GAME OF THE WEEK: Baseball vs. Wesleyan University
By Anjie Zheng, Sports Editor
Though the baseball team’s games have so far been limited to the sunny confines of Fort Myers, Fla., the team will open its 2008 home slate this weekend. Up first is Little Three rival Wesleyan University on Friday. The game will mark the team’s first West Division Conference game.

Amherst stands currently at 6-4 overall, while the Cardinals are 5-9. Pitcher Jeff Kennan ’11 has adapted quickly to the college game, claiming the first NESCAC Pitcher of the Week honor of the season after the week in Florida. The first-year had a 0.90 ERA in his 10 innings. Also leading the team on the mound is Chris Edgar ’08, with a 3.93 career ERA. Senior co-captains Neal Allar, a first-baseman, and Josh Card, a catcher, will lead the Jeffs both on the field and at the place.

The Cardinals are led by junior shortstop Drew Dominguez and senior first-baseman Graham Douds. In the teams’ most recent match-up, Amherst beat the Cardinals by a convincing 6-0 score, continuing the Jeffs’ winning streak against Wesleyan that stretches back to 2005.
