Senior tri-captain and goaltender Linda McEvoy didn’t miss a beat this season, quickly returning to form as a key player for the Jeffs. McEvoy was ranked second in NESCAC last season with 8.41 goals-against per game, and improved upon that statistic this year, averaging only 7.57 goals-against so far.
McEvoy’s goaltending skills helped the Jeffs reap an overtime victory over Wesleyan University, setting up Amherst’s eight-game winning streak.
Most recently, McEvoy recorded nine saves against Middlebury in a tough loss this past weekend.
Ryan Platzbecker ’09—Baseball
A valuable left-handed pitcher for the Jeffs, Ryan Platzbecker ’09 gave an impressive performance last weekend in the three-game series against Hamilton College. In seven innings, Platzbecker struck out 11 batters and earned a complete-game victory for Amherst.
Last season, Platzberger received NESCAC Pitcher of the Week honors and also finished ninth with 9.34 strikeouts per game.
The southpaw has been gaining momentum since winning his first game of the season in the game against Wesleyan University. If the Jeffs are going to continue to play well, he’ll need to maintain his form going forward.
