GAME OF THE WEEK: Outdoor Track & Field at Hamilton College
By Jasmine Yang, Sports Editor
A talented Amherst outdoor track and field team will compete in the NESCAC Championships this weekend against top competitors in the conference. The Jeffs will face especially heated competition from their archrivals, the Ephs. To date, Willams College has won the women’s crown for seven straight years and last year, the Williams men shared a tied victory with Tufts University.

This year, however, the Jeffs are ready for a new challenge. First-year Sarah Leyman made a solid impression in her performance this past weekend. Her victory in the hammer made Leyman the first Amherst woman in about a decade to win a throwing event. Zandra Walton ’09 and Jimmy Swanson ’10 are leading runners in track. Walton recently won the 1,500-meter run and Swanson placed first in the 800-meter run in the Little Three Championships last Saturday.

Besides hosting the championships, Hamilton College boasts great depth in its team with several NESCAC Performers of the Week on their roster.
