Game of the Week: Cross Country Amherst Invitational
By Sarah Gelles, Managing Sports Editor
Having won the NCAA Championship last season, the women’s cross country team can’t exactly improve on last season’s results. Starting Saturday, though, the team will do what it can to match them.

This weekend’s meet is the only home one of the season for both the men and the women, and both squads will look to impress Amherst supporters off the bat. Despite losing a number of talented runners to graduation, including All-American Heather Wilson, the women’s team returns largely intact. Senior Elise Tropiano, who grabbed All-American honors last year along with Wilson, will look to help the women repeat as both NESCAC and NCAA champions.

On the men’s side, the Jeffs lost only two of their top seven runners to graduation. Though the team had a strong showing at NCAAs, finishing 12th, it has its sights set on cracking the top-10 this year.
