Libero Rachel Yorke ’11 stepped up to the net Saturday and tallied 21 digs against the University of New England. Her defensive skills helped the Jeffs earn straight-set victories against New England, Roger Williams University, and Rivier College. In addition, Yorke received Most Valuable Player honors for her performance in the invitational.
In her rookie season, Yorke picked up second place in digs per game (5.70) in the NESCAC and earned Hall of Fame Classic All-Tournament honors. This year, the formidable defender should only improve; if the first weekend is any indication, she is well on her way to doing so.
Carlyle Eubank ’10—Cross Country
Junior Carlyle Eubank led the men’s cross country in the 5k field this past Saturday at the Amherst Invitational. The Jeffs were able to claim a first-place finish for a strong start to the season. Eubank, running as a pack of eight with other Jeffs, finished fourth with a time of 17:10.7.
Last season, Eubank was a valuable part of the NCAA Championship squad. Eubank held the No. 2 position in the NCAA and earned All-New England Regional honors for placing 29th at the NCAA Regional Championships.
Eubank came back onto the course this season with a solid performance.
