Junior midfielder Meg Murphy helped women’s soccer clinch their first win of the season against NESCAC rival Middlebury, 4-1. Murphy’s two goals and one assist were instrumental in claiming a decisive victory.
In the second half of the match, Murphy played the game-winning goal and also topped the score with a successful free kick.
Murphy has once again proven that she is a player to be reckoned with in offense. She earned NESCAC Rookie of the Year honors in 2006 and was named to the All-NESCAC First Team for two consecutive years. Murphy will help jumpstart the Jeffs’ offense this season.
Nate Belkin ’12—Men’s Golf
First-year Nate Belkin might be the missing element that the men’s golf team needs for a successful run at the upcoming NESCAC Championships qualifiers.
Belkin had a stand-out rookie performance this past weekend at Middlebury College’s Duke Nelson Invitational, leading the Jeffs with 147 strokes and tying for second-place in the tournament. Belkin’s impressive contribution rocketed the Jeffs up to sixth place out of 22 teams total.
Belkin, sophomore Trip Wray and senior tri-captain Chris Valentine claimed spots in the top 50, which looks promising for the future of men’s golf this season.
