Game of the Week: Women’s Tennis vs. Williams
By Jasmine Yang, Sports Editor
Another epic battle between Amherst’s women’s tennis team and the Williams College squad will take place on the courts this Saturday. The Ephs undoubtedly pose a significant threat this year. Though Amherst is currently an impressive third in the Div. III national rankings, they sit behind No. 2 Williams, the defending NCAA champion.

The Jeffs recently competed in the Middlebury Doubles Tournament, where Brittany Berckes ’10 and Natasha Brown ’11 took on Williams’ Carly Gibson ’09 and Nicole Reich ’11 in the finals and closed out the match 8-6 to take first place. Berckes and Brown will again anchor the Jeffs’ doubles play and will be complemented by a lineup of solid singles players: Jill Wexler ’10, Carlissa King ’11 and Laken King ’11.

The Ephs, led by senior co-captains Annie Hancock and Gibson, will certainly provide a challenge. For an Amherst team looking to take home the national title this year, however, the competition will be a welcome test.
