Game of the Week: Field Hockey vs. Williams College
By Jasmine Yang, Sports Editor
Amherst field hockey has picked up momentum since its 4-0 shutout against Tufts University. The Jeffs have a four-game winning streak going into the match against NESCAC rival Williams College. The match should be a thrilling contest, as the Jeffs and the Ephs appear to be evenly matched. Both teams have recently posted wins against Colby College and Wesleyan University.

Hoping to provide an edge in the competition will be top goal scorers Liz Schink ’11 and Molly Malloy ’10. Senior tri-captains Louise Stevenson and Catherine Calvert will serve as anchors of the Jeffs’ defense. Additionally, rookie goalkeeper Emily Vitale’s impressive save percentage of 0.798 is a significant advantage for the Jeffs.

The Ephs hold an overall record of 6-5 (3-4 NESCAC), but have been inconsistent for the past few games. Their sophomore goalkeeper Katrina Tulla has provided a solid last line of defense, so the Jeffs will need to go at full speed from the first whistle on Saturday.
