Wheeler is the Jeffs’ third leading scorer this season and second in points per game. He is last game prior to Saturday’s against Trinity was Jan. 31 against Colby. In between, Wheeler missed some key games, including a loss to Williams and a close victory over Middlebury. Now healthy, Wheeler should be a welcome retuning presence in the Jeffs’ run through the postseason.
Sophomore Kendra Stern won three individual events and was part of the winning 800 free relay to lead the Jeffs to second place at the NESCAC Championships.
Stern began her streak on Friday by winning the 500 free in 4:57.65. On Saturday she won the 200 free with a 1:50.20 then teamed with Meaghan Stern ’09, Alex Lee ’09, and Becca Thompson ’12 to set a new pool record in the 800 free relay with a time of 7:31.93. Stern capped off her weekend by winning the 100 free. to successfully defend all her individual titles from last year. Next up, Stern aims to defend these same titles on the National stage in March.
