By Morgan Toy '11, Sports Editor
Senior captain Zach Lerner won both his singles and doubles matches to lead the seventh-ranked Jeffs past fifth-ranked archrival Williams College in a come-from-behind 5-4 victory on Sunday.

Lerner teamed up with sophomore Mortiz Koenig at the No. 1 doubles spot to take the only Amherst points in doubles with an 8-5 victory, but it still left the Jeffs down 2-1.

In singles matches, Lerner gave the team the first lead of the day in a three hour match at the No. 1 singles spot. Lerner fought cramps in later sets but pulled out an epic 5-7, 6-3, 7-5 win to lead the comeback.

Sophomore Ryan Healy led the Jeffs to the first of a pair of wins against archrival Williams College, snapping the Ephs’ 11-game winning streak in the process.

Healy, a RHP, allowed only one run on two hits for a complete-game win. In the process, he struck out seven batters and walked one. Healy held the Ephs scoreless through five innings, retiring 15 consecutive batters.

Although it is his first victory this season, Healy has been putting up impressive numbers for the Jeffs. He has struck out 35 batters in 31.2 innings, has a 2.56 ERA, and has held opponents to a mere .165 batting average.
