Game of the Week: Tennis NESCAC Championship at Williams
Both the men and women’s tennis teams, each ranked second in the nation, compete Saturday and Sunday at the NESCAC Championships, hosted by Williams. Each team has the potential to earn the championship, but will likely have to get through the number one team in the nation: Williams for the women, Middlebury for the men.
The men are led by Zach Lerner ’09, the number one singles player in the nation, leading at the 31 singles and doubles spot. First-year Austin Chafetz, a standout throughout the season, is just behind Lerner in the No. 2 singles and doubles spots.
Meanwhile, the women are led by a star of their own, junior Britany Berckes, reigning NESCAC Player of the Year and two-time national doubles champion at both No. 1 spots. Continuing off her stellar rookie season is sophomore Carlissa King, who has been playing superb tennis at the No. 2 singles spot.
