Of the 15 teams and the 81 participants, Amherst College junior NGCA All-American Hayley Milbourn won the individual title at the 34th Mt. Holyoke Invitational on Saturday and Sunday.

Her strong efforts and near perfect scores (154-78, 76) helped the Jeffs achieve ranking as the second place team in the tournament, surpassing archrival Williams College.

This is Milbourn’s second time in her three years at Amherst to receive top individual scores. In her first year, Milbourn was named the NGCA Div. III Freshman of the Year. Milbourn has continued to shine and is sure to continue bringing in top scores.

Sophomore Austin Chafetz led Amherst at the ITA New England Championships, advancing to the singles quarterfinals and the doubles semifinals.

As the No. 2 singles seed in a field of 56 players, Chafetz earned a first-round bye then handily defeated Kai Victoria of Tufts 6-2, 6-0. After advancing to the quarterfinals with a three-set victory over Peter Odell of Middlebury, he lost a hard-fought three-set match to Felix Sun of Williams College.

Partnered with Robby Sorrel ’12, Chafetz then advanced to the semifinals, with their most notable match being an 8-4 victory over the No. 1 seed from Bowdoin.
