Game of the Week: Women's Soccer vs. Middlebury College
By Briana Hanny '13, Section Editor
The Jeffs recently suffered their second loss of the season to archrival Williams College, leaving their record at 5-2 (3-1 NESCAC). Despite the loss, the women’s soccer team is gearing up for a highly anticipated match with the second ranked Middlebury College. The Panthers have gone undefeated their entire season, so the Jeffs will need a strong defensive strategy in order to frustrate the Middlebury offense. Middlebury’s Annie Rowell ’11 and tri-captain Margaret Owen ’10, who together have scored nine goals this season alone, are players to watch.

The Jeffs can look to midfielder and tri-captain Meg Murphy ’10, who has tallied 15 shots and two goals this season. Juniors Jackie Hirsch and Hannah Cooper, two of the Jeffs’ top scorers, will be there to test the Panthers’ defense. The match is sure to be action-packed with major talent from both sides of the match. In the NESCAC Championship quarterfinals, the Jeffs defeated the Panthers and look for another victory this Saturday to end Middlebury’s perfect season.
