Players of the Week: Ali Simeone '13 and Mike Taylor

First-year Ali Simeone was named the NESCAC Women’s Cross Country Performer of the Week for her efforts during the Lord Jeffs’ team victory at the Keene State College Invitational this past weekend.

Saturday at Keene State, Simeone completed the 5k race with an impressive 19:01 time, second fastest among her teammates and fourth fastest overall. With Simeone’s contribution, the Jeffs were able to place first in a field of 12 schools for their second team victory of the season,

Simeone’s finish at Keene State is her second consecutive finish with the Jeffs’ second fastest time.

Senior linebacker Mike Taylor was named the NESCAC Defensive Co-Player of the Week for an outstanding performance in Saturday’s game against Bowdoin College.

Taylor played a major role in Amherst’s defeat of the Polar Bears. Taylor achieved a team-record of high seven solo tackles in the game against Bowdoin and nine assisted tackles. Taylor now holds the second-highest single game total in the NESCAC.

With 25 tackles this season and only having played two games, Mike Taylor is ranked second in NESCAC for number of tackles this season.
