The Jeffs started off their week with another win over Westfield State College but dropped their next match to Conneticut. Then, down 2-0 to Wesleyan, Meier led the Jeffs to a stunning 3-2 victory with her 27 kills, nine digs, four total blocks and tallied a 0.442 hitting percentage by the end of the match.
Meier is currently ranked 3rd in the NESCAC in kills per set (3.71) and 2nd in hitting percentage.
First-year outside linebacker Jeff Katz was named the NESCAC defensive player of the week after his eight tackle, 3.5 sack (including one for a safety), broken up pass performance in the Jeffs’ 23-13 victory over Colby.
Katz transferred from Lafayette College last year, and has made quite a splash on the Jeffs’ defensive front. Through 4 games, Katz ranks second in the NESCAC in sacks (4.5), ranks sixth on the team in tackles (23), and has an interception and three pass break-ups. He has helped the Jeffs’ defense hold each of their opponents to under 13 points this season.
